age @ 26 and yet still single

Happy b'day to me! am now officially 26 years old. trying to write something on this special day of mine.
Right now am thinking about most of my friends, they'll manage to settle down. some of them enjoying their days with kids and their hubby, having dinner with beloved one, wake up with someone beside them, recite the Quran, do their prayers with 'imam' of the family, sharing thoughts and ideas with someone their love...
and yet..it is still me who left behind. no one to talk to, no one to listen to..but i keep on praying. my very wish on my 26th bday 'i wanna have a family of my own'. it hurts to learned the truth about being ALONE. the hidden pain when i feel the EMPTINESS (though i got good friends to cheer me up!). but i wont give it up..this is just the beginning. : )

Marhaban Ya Ramadhan

Ramadhan is coming again..this is the month of Blessings, the month full of Allah's reward. I am here to wish all of my dearest friend a very happy Ramadhan. May this Ramadhan will be better than before..

A Ramadan Poem,

by Donna Sibaai

The holy month of Ramadan
For all Muslims has begun.
Praising Allah through the day,
From dawn to dusk we fast and pray.
We pay zakah (charity) for those in need,
Trying hard to do good deeds.

When the sun has set, and day is done-
I'll break this chain, but only one.
By the end of Ramadan, this whole chain will be all gone!
It's time for Eid and lots of fun!!!

Green Thinking: The First Step

Its GREEN again!

Green is a major issues that has been discuss by everyone in this planet. Me as a muslim as well as someone who shares this planet earth with all living things, as a Caliph who held the responsibilities must at least take one simple step on showing our support to help our beloved earth. Futhermore..islam is Green! naturally islam teaches the human how to live in harmony with the natural world. This is not something contrived or forced upon us, but an inevitable extension of living the islamic way of life.

Here is one simple suggestion..it's the easiest even a child can do this..

STEP ONE : Try not to take a plastic bag when you consume simple stuff (like candy, newspapers, soda etc etc).

Simple isn't it? Why i said this..u can always put those stuff inside your bag. I believe most of us always bring our own bag..since a simple stuff doesn't need a lot of space. Children can do it..no problem with adult. I already do this for a long time..since i was studying in Uitm. This is one step to reduce plastic usage. Of course there always lots of other way..but again just try this one simple step..if each of us from Malaysia apply this..i believe we can reduce tons of plastic waste everyday.

Going Green?

It's been a very busy week for me..since i am unofficially involved with Go Green (originally Kauthar's idea for project for ISSA). Lots of work to do but i am enjoying it. It was fun because somehow it's like moving one step further into the environment..(Islam is Green!) though it seems very small contribution but actually we're promoting sustainable development in larger perspective. We need to take action even with one simple step..the world need our help, enough damages, let's heal and revitalize this world again.

Nice Story : A Farmer and his donkey

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey. He invited all his neighbours to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.
At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbours continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive..
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less

Valentine and Muslims

Valentine Day : a very famous day that falls on 14th February every year. This day also known as 'Festival of Love' celebrating every lovers and couples from all over the world. What am about to highlight is not about Valentine Day but what it is for Muslims..this is an important reminder to all of my friends out there..

The History of Valentine

The Festival of Love was one of the festivals of the pagan Romans, when paganism was the prevalent religion of the Romans more than seventeen centuries ago. In the pagan Roman concept, it was an expression of "spiritual love".

There were myths associated with this pagan festival of the Romans, which persisted with their Christian heirs. Among the most famous of these myths was the Roman belief that Romulus, the founder of Rome, was suckled one day by a she-wolf, which gave him strength and wisdom.

The Romans used to celebrate this event in mid-February each year with a big festival.

One of the rituals of this festival was the sacrifice of a dog and a goat. Two strong and muscular youths would daub the blood of the dog and goat onto their bodies, then they would wash the blood away with milk. After that there would be a great parade, with these two youths at its head, which would go about the streets. The two youths would have pieces of leather with which they would hit everyone who crossed their path. The Roman women would welcome these blows, because they believed that they could prevent or cure infertility.

The connection between Saint Valentine and this Festival

Saint Valentine is a name which is given to two of the ancient "martyrs" of the Christian Church. It was said that there were two of them, or that there was only one, who died in Rome as the result of the persecution of the Gothic leader Claudius, c. 296 CE. In 350 CE, a church was built in Rome on the site of the place where he died, to perpetuate his memory.

When the Romans embraced Christianity, they continued to celebrate the Feast of Love mentioned above, but they changed it from the pagan concept of "spiritual love" to another concept known as the "martyrs of love", represented by Saint Valentine who had advocated love and peace, for which cause he was martyred, according to their claims. It was also called the Feast of Lovers, and Saint Valentine was considered to be the patron saint of lovers.

One of their false beliefs connected with this festival was that the names of girls who had reached marriageable age would be written on small rolls of paper and placed in a dish on a table. Then the young men who wanted to get married would be called, and each of them would pick a piece of paper. He would put himself at the service of the girl whose name he had drawn for one year, so that they could find out about one another. Then they would get married, or they would repeat the same process again on the day of the festival in the following year.

The Christian clergy reacted against this tradition, which they considered to have a corrupting influence on the morals of young men and women. It was abolished in Italy, where it had been well-known, then it was revived in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when in some western countries there appeared shops which sold small books called “Valentine’s books”, which contained love poems, from which the one who wanted to send a greeting to his sweetheart could choose. They also contained suggestions for writing love letters.

(The above quotation is excerpted, with slight modifications, from www.Islam-qa.com)

As regards the Islamic stance on this festival, Dr. Su`ad Ibrahim Salih, professor of Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) at Al-Azhar University, states the following:

Indeed, Islam is the religion of altruism, true love, and cooperation on that which is good and righteous. We implore Allah Almighty to gather us together under the umbrella of His All-encompassing Mercy, and to unite us together as one man.

Allah Almighty says: (The believers are naught else than brothers. Therefore make peace between your brethren and observe your duty to Allah that haply ye may obtain mercy.) (Al-Hujurat 49: 10)

Focusing more on the question in point, I can say that there are forms of expressing love that are religiously acceptable, while there are others that are not religiously acceptable. Among the forms of love that are religiously acceptable are those that include the love for Prophets and Messengers. It stands to reason that the love for Allah, and His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) should have the top priority over all other forms of love.

Islam does recognize happy occasions that bring people closer to one another, and add spice to their lives. H
owever, Islam goes against blindly imitating the West regarding a special occasion such as Valentine’s Day. Hence, commemorating that special day known as the Valentine’s Day is an innovation or bid`ah that has no religious backing. Every innovation of that kind is rejected, as far as Islam is concerned. Islam requires all Muslims to love one another all over the whole year, and reducing the whole year to a single day is totally rejected.

Hence, we Muslims ought not to follow in the footsteps of such innovations and superstitions that are common in what is known as the Valentine’s Day. No doubt that there are many irreligious practices that occur on that day, and those practices are capable of dissuading people from the true meanings of love and altruism to the extent that the celebration is reduced to a moral decline.

The Correct Hijab

Something good to share, a reminder for parents alert, friends knowledge not to forget myself..about the right condition of our hijab. Sheikh Al-Albaani (may Allah have mercy on him) said:

The right condition of hijab:

1) It should cover all the body apart from whatever has been exempted

“O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e. screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

This aayah clearly states that it is obligatory to cover all of a woman’s beauty and adornments and not to display any part of that before non-mahram men (“strangers”) except for whatever appears unintentionally, in which case there will be no sin on them if they hasten to cover it up.

2) It should not be an adornment in and of itself

“… and not to show off their adornment…” [an-Nur 24:31]. The general meaning of this phrase includes the outer garment, because if it is decorated it will attract men’s attention to her.

3) It should be thick and not transparent or “see-through”

- because it cannot cover properly otherwise. Transparent or see-through clothing makes a woman more tempting and beautiful.

Concerning this the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “During the last days of my ummah there will be women who are clothed but naked, with something on their heads like the humps of camels. Curse them, for they are cursed.”

Another hadeeth adds: “They will not enter Paradise or even smell its fragrance, although its fragrance can be detected from such and such a distance. (Narrated by Muslim from the report of Abu Hurayrah)

4) It should be loose, not tight so that it describes any part of the body

The purpose of clothing is to prevent fitnah (temptation), and this can only be achieved if clothes are wide and loose. Tight clothes, even if they conceal the colour of the skin, still describe the size and shape of the body or part of it, and create a vivid image in the minds of men. The corruption or invitation to corruption that is inherent in that is quite obvious. So the clothes must be wide.

5) It should not be perfumed with bakhoor or fragrance

6) It should not resemble the clothing of men

7) It should not resemble the dress of kaafir women

It is stated in sharee’ah that Muslims, men and women alike, should not resemble or imitate the kuffaar with regard to worship, festivals or clothing that is specific to them. This is an important Islamic principle which nowadays, unfortunately, is neglected by many Muslims, even those who care about religion and calling others to Islam. This is due either to ignorance of their religion, or because they are following their own whims and desires, or because of deviation, combined with modern customs and imitation of kaafir Europe. This was one of the causes of the Muslims’ decline and weakness, which enabled the foreigners to overwhelm and colonize them.

“…Verily, Allah will not change the condition of a people as long as they do not change their state themselves …” al-Ra’d 13:11

8) It should not be a garment of fame and vanity

Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him said: The messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever wears a garment of fame and vanity in this world, Allah will cloth him in a garment of humiliation on the Day of Resurrection, then He will cause Fire to flame up around him.’
